Art on Broadway
Did you know downtown Beaverton has its very own art gallery? This was a special surprise when I discovered it. As a lover of all things art, I find myself stopping by often. Not only for the beautiful art - but, the opportunity to visit and get to know the artists that have their work on display!
Visit Broadway Street—just a quick jump over Farmington—and discover Art on Broadway. The gallery features 12 local artists, with offerings ranging from paintings and photography to woodwork, glass and jewelry!
Art on Broadway is under the direction of gallery director and artist Bert Cohen. Her pursuit of art started with making jewelry while working on her greatest success—raising her two sons.
Bert wanted to channel her artistic energy into making a place where local artists could display and showcase their talent. She landed on downtown Beaverton due to its central location and business friendly environment—not to mention the restaurants!
The thing she loves most about what she does is watching the faces of the children who come into her gallery when they discover art that they like. Listening to them tell her what they like about the art is a special treat.
Art on Broadway does its part to stay involved in the vibrant downtown Beaverton community by hosting a free reception every month. These events celebrate new work and encourage art awareness within the community. This month’s is taking place Friday, June 14th, and features Michael Kelly and Kyle Evans speaking from 5pm – 7 pm on land and sea scapes. These events are a wonderful way to get to know the artists. I had the privilege of visiting Art on Broadway during the last artist reception. I got to know some of the artists behind the pieces of art and had a wonderful time hearing about their processes and passion for what they do!
If you haven’t found your way into Art on Broadway, I would encourage you to plan a trip! You won’t be disappointed.

The gallery also rents out space for events such as bridal showers or anniversary parties. On top of that, they are so dedicated that they will bring artwork to your home or business if you can’t quite figure out if it will fit with your aesthetic.
Additionally, two of their featured artists each have something special to offer. Rae Campbell, specializing in fused glass, offers art lessons. Michael Kelly, specializing in mixed media, offers fine art prints of his work, which can be ordered through the gallery.
For the artists out there, Art on Broadway has openings for new members in 3D art, particularly sculpture or metal work. If this is your specialty, check out their Call to Artists!
