Tucked in a cute little neighborhood in Downtown Beaverton, you will find a beautiful historical bright white building built in 1880. The covered front porch invites you to want to explore what’s inside.
GHM Boutique was located in Portland for 6 years. With increasing rent and utilities, it was time to explore a new option. One of GHM Boutique’s loyal customers happened to be a real estate agent and shared the listing of this historical home in Beaverton. Now, GHM Boutique has the perfect space of their own!
“I love it all”
- Tanya of GHM Boutique
When I visited GHM Boutique for the first time, I was quite surprised at what I discovered. The positive energy and warm welcome was the first thing I noticed. Tanya is a very joyful person and treats all of her customers and guests like family. The volunteers were buzzing around and I was drawn like a moth to a flame to all of the high quality clothing. Just exploring the boutique is half the fun. With its multiple rooms and character from the 1800’s, you can’t help but spend some time getting lost. I asked Tanya what she loves most about what she does, “I love it all! I love my customers and my amazing volunteers that I could not do this without. I also love the stories I get back from the veterans we have helped with either their housing, utilities and other emergency expenses. This has been the most rewarding job I have ever had.”
The quality and cleanliness makes you think it’s a consignment shop, but the prices are thrifty so that makes shopping that much more fun! The best part about GHM Boutique is what their mission is. All of the clothing is donated and the amazing volunteers have done a spectacular job of curating the store and making sure all of the items are ready for their new home. GHM Boutique is a 501c3 benefiting Gung Ho Ministries. The income from the boutique is used to provide financial assistance to veterans. In fact, our veterans have been helped with $210,000 in financial assistance since 2012, with $64k of that coming from GHM’s first full year in Beaverton!
Where shopping meets cozy.
For GHM Boutique, they love being located in an actual neighborhood. When asked what their favorite part is about downtown and central Beaverton Tanya summed it up, “people walk by with their babies and dogs. Everyone has been so friendly and you feel the community here. This city wants you to succeed and are very appreciative of what we do for our veterans and others in need. Plus, we have gotten to know other charities and have teamed up with them by giving vouchers for free clothing as well as food once a week to the Pregnancy Resource Center.”
If you have been doing some spring cleaning or doing a little Netflix binge watching of “Tidying Up” and have some items that just aren’t giving you that spark of joy then stop by GHM Boutique and use their dedicated driveway to make your donation! Our veterans will most definitely receive joy with the help that GHM Boutique is able to offer with your help.
